Mount Description

This year (2024 for this horse), I feel LOTRO have nailed it with the Potato Farmer's Fine Steed. As someone who creates - I do crafts and have done digital design in the past - I can imagine that making an appealing mount themed around a Farmers' Faire is pretty challenging. Even more when, if you're the one(s) making it, you want players to actually ride it.

Let's have a look in a bit of depth, and also see how the War-steed Cosmetics are looking.

Farmer's Fine Steed Features

Rope Bridle

I love this. It's not brutally strapped in, but rope is strong enough to guide the horse. And rope is inherently rustic, fitting the theme perfectly.

Loose, Themed Barding

The barding (or "caparison" when we're talking about War-steeds) matches the cosmetics, but is loosely hung over the steed. This keeps you comfortable while not making your market pony look ready for anything more than a price war.

Well-worn Sack

This is a fabulous touch. This potato sack is rough, worn and it looks like you have made an attempt to mend it.

And, unlike some older sacks of things in the game where it's only the shading that gives a 3D look, there are actually 3D potatoes here, giving it adding realism.

A well-used sack of potatoes hangs off the side of the horse. A hole in the bag has been roughly mended, but one potato threatens an escape.

Go Get Your Fine Steed (and War-Steed!)

In MMOs people can often seem keen the show off their shiny toys and their polished (or evil-looking) armour. But for once, can't we just be people. People with holes in our bags of potatos, people who make mistakes and try to patch them up - with varing degrees of success.

LOTRO have put the Farmer's Fine Steed together so well. Make sure you get it and the war-steed cosmetics too. Get one for your Farmer and Cook crafters. Or that non-adventurous Hobbit alt you have that stays home to make things.
