LOTRO Markers of the Sunken City Deed in Annúminas, Evendim

The first of the Annúminas deeds I am going to cover is Markers of the Sunken City. This is a part exploration, part robbing the thieves. While there are six deed objectives, three of them are plaques dotted around the City – with the remaining three plaques held by the Angmarim invaders. In this guide I’ll help you target the right mobs and point you in the direction of the plaques still standing. Let’s get cracking.

is now live. It is mostly all in here apart from a couple of details. Estimated publish date: 4pm , Friday 8th April

Why Can’t I Use the Plaque of Echad Garthadir (and others)?

I’ve just spent close to half an hour running and riding around Annúminas thinking I was more insane than normal. I found two of the plaques but could not use them! So if you cannot use the Plaque of Echad Garthadir or any of them, the answer is to collect a plaque from Enemies in Annúminas first. Once you have triggered the deed this way, then the plaques become usable.

In one sense, if you do the deed in the other LOTRO give you, then you won’t have this issue. And I expect most people won’t even come across it given the number of Angmarim within the City just waiting for you to rob them!

Collecting Plaques

The first three plaques are not those you can simply walk into…I meant, “up to”. These ones have been stolen by the Angmarim. Now, they must be tiny plaques, because it only needs to drop from one Angmarim! That, or they have the Adventurer’s Bottomless Pocket of Quest Items. You’ll see what I mean, when we go to find the ones still standing in Annúminas!
I’ve organised the info below both by the Plaque name and by the Enemy name. The first, really important thing is that you do not have to be at the literal location of the plaque name. It’s not like thieves remain at the scene of their crimes to admire their ill-gotten gains, is it?

Anyway, here are the three plaques you need to steal back for Markers of the Sunken City.

What Level are the Relevant Enemies?

As an encouragement, all of the enemies that drop the plaques are Normal strength, so are not off-limits if you’re going solo. So let’s see now which Enemy forces are relevant for the Markers of the Sunken City Deed. The first three are inside the City itself:

Angmarim Expeditionary

Which Plaques?

Where are Expedionary Enemies?

You’ll find these along the road from the East into Annúminas, mixed in with a couple of other classes. You’ll also “meet” this kind of foe at Tham Ornan.

Dead-Eye Angmarim

Which Plaques?

Where are Dead-Eye Angmarim?

Pretty much wherever you also find the Angmarim Expeditionary. In short, on the eastern road and at Tham Ornan.

Angmarim Bowman

Which Plaques?

Where are Angmarim Bowmen?

Apart from the two fishing above, it seems Bowmen (and they all seem to be men, too) are in groups of other mobs, but only one Bowman per group. That said, here are some possible coordinates. See the map below also.

Tham Ornan

While I have majored on where you can recover the plaques from inside the city, it is not solely there that you can find them. Angmarim Commanders can drop the Plaque of Minathranc and Plaque of Tirband and are found at Tham Ornan (8.7S, 66.7W).

Other Plaques

Incidentally, there are also Dead-Eye Angmarim and Angmarim Expeditionaries (is that even a word?) at Tham Ornan(1). So, depending on your side-quests, you may have already half-completed the Markers of the Sunken City before you even enter Annúminas!

A Chance to Catch Them All!

So, while I have provided a map below to the various places within Annúminas you can collect plaques from, you do have a chance to do so quickly. The one enemy common to all the Plaques is the Angmarim Expeditionary. There are plenty of these on the East road into the City.

Also, Dead-Eye Angmarim have a chance to drop the Plaque of Menelband and the Plaque of Minathranc. You will find some of these on this road as well.

Bonus: Wardens of Annúminas Reputation Items

As well as clearing the Markers of the Sunken City Deed and progressing Angmarim-slayer, you can also improve your reputation with the Wardens of Annúminas. This is because the Angmarim within the City of Kings also drop the following reputation items:

  • Bands of Númenór Bands of Númenór: +700 Reputation
  • Black Badges Black Badge: +50 Reputation

Where are the Plaques in Annúminas?

The second half of the deed is much simpler. Just head to each location and use the elaborate “plaques”.

Plaque of Echad Garthadir

Coordinates: 18.9S, 70.8W
Echad Garthadir has two entrances/exits. Leave by the northern one and the plaque is on your right.

Plaque of Clorhir

Coordinates: 19.0S, 68.7W

The Plaque of Clorhir is not at the Clorhir control point! However, you can find it easily if you start there. Get to the control point then turn until you’re facing North/North-East. Depending on your graphics settings you can see it once you head a little in that direction.

Plaque of Ariant

Coordinates: 17.3S, 69.4W

The Plaque of Ariant is past the location marked as Ariant, on the bridge between the main part of Annúminas and Tyl Annûn.

Here’s a map showing the locations – both of the plaques you need to use and where the Angmarim can be found who are holding onto the plaques you have to recover.

Markers of the Sunken City Deed Rewards

It’s a fairly standard set of deed rewards once you’ve found all the Markers/Plaques:

  • LOTRO Points × 5
  • Marks × 30
  • Title Sage of the Sunken City
  • Reputation +500 (Wardens of Annúminas)

TL;DR Discover and Recover the Markers of the Sunken City

What better way to orientate yourself to the ruined city of Annúminas than with an exploration deed? Fight through hoards of Angmarim to reach the plaques and reclaim those stolen. While you’re at it, why not sway the balance for Control of Annúminas?

Footnotes

  1. Deeding at Tham Ornan:
Do be aware, however, that Tham Ornan is (I think) the only place except Annúminas that Angmarim are found in Evendim. This makes it ripe pickings for those players who are clearing slayer deeds. If someone’s already there running around and killing everything, come back for the Commanders! And if a player comes into the ruin and you’re doing the slayer deed, either offer to group up, or leave the ruin and come back. They will respawn, so be considerate, please. (↑ return)
