LOTRO Fall Festival 2025 Guide by Fibro Jedi - all the quests, the newest rewards: cosmetics, mounts and pets. Celebrate Harvestmath this Autumn.

Autumn has come to Middle Earth! Along with another bumper Harvest comes the 2025 LOTRO Fall Festival! This event is jam-packed (hmm, jam) with activities, jokes to play and a scary, haunted burrow which has mysteriously appeared under Bag End. And don’t forget the creepy story behind Wistmead and the extra quests you can do there for those precioussss tokens. The LOTRO Fall, Halloween and Harvest Festival is back! (Or Fallharveenmath, as I call it!).

Fall Festival 2025 Dates

The 2025 Fall / Harvestmath Festival runs from 3pm/servertime on 9th October until 3am on the 4th November.

Looking for Wistmead Quests?

Wistmead - where Halloween meets Harvest Festival in LOTRO - Guide to Quests and Wheat Maze

As there are a lot of quests in that zone, I have a separate Guide to Wistmead Quests.

Wrapper Quests

A Spirited Harvest

Similar to other LOTRO Festivals, if you take part in 10 Fall Festival activities, you get:

  • Fall Festival Tokens × 5 Fall Fest Tokens
  • Legendary Item XP Legendary Item XP (if applicable)

The Hobbit who has the wrapper quests is Rosa Hornblower (Not Opal Goodbody).

Wrappers can be picked up in The Shire and Wistmead. Both zones have Fall Festival rewards vendors too.

A Bountiful Harvest

A Bountiful Harvest rewards you for completing a number of A Spirited Harvest. So, the (intro) level grants the rewards for completing it three times. I say “three” because the quest you get says “four” but in the quest tracker it shows (1/3) for example.

A Fortune of Harvest Spirit

This Harvestmath wrapper is a bonus for completing a level of A Bountiful Harvest. The rewards for the (intro) level are:

How Many Figments Can You Earn at the Harvest Festival?

Each character can earn 2,300 Figments of Splendor Figments of Splendour if they complete all wrappers:

  1. Intro: 300 Figments
  2. Intermediate: 400 Figments
  3. Advanced: 500 Figments
  4. Final: 600 Figments
  5. A Fortune of Harvest Spirit: 500 Figments

Fall Festival Quests!

Here are as many Festival quests I could find that don’t relate to Bingo Boffin’s questline.

As per usual, you can also partake in the Shire and Bree-land Horse Races, and they are worth 3 × Fall Festival Tokens Tokens each!

Troves and Trickery

What’s a “Trick”?

Troves and Trickery is a quest whereby you find NPCs in the regions and perform emotes (or “tricks”) on them! For greater clarity I’ve added the screenshots of each of these so you can easily find them.

Hint: if you want to work these out for yourself, then you’re looking for NPCs with blue rings over their heads. Right click them for dialogue then decipher which emote is most appropriate.

How to Perform a Trick Emote

If you’re new to LOTRO or MMOs in general, Emoting will not be obvious to you. While you can use Collections and drag an emote to your ability bar, Troves and Trickery uses a lot of emotes. So the easiest way is to use the /<emotename> command in the chat box. I’ve put each one below to help you.

Note: the NPC must be selected to count as a trick. Performing the emote near the NPC won’t work.

Tricks in the Shire

Townperson (29.5S, 71.2W)
Emote: /pick
Farmer (30.7S, 71.1W)
Emote: /shiver
Townperson (31.5S, 71.4W)
/burp
Townperson Fishing (31.0S, 70.9W)
Emote: /tantrum

Quest Rewards

Item-Picking Quests

At the main festival areas there are quick pick-a-box style “quests”. They aren’t real quests so don’t count towards the Daily wrapper. But you get a random number of Festival Tokens. These can be done easily alongside Troves and Trickery.

Festival Mask Tokens

As well as Fall Festival Tokens Tokens, you can barter for a Scroll icon used for many purposes in LOTRO Mask Scroll. These can be exchanged at the locations below for head cosmetics you can’t get anywhere else. See Fall Festival Cosmetics in the “Mask Tokens” tab or section.

Apple Bobbing

Location: The Party Tree

At the Party Tree you will find a couple of buckets of water, in which are apples! Even if you don’t like apples (I’m looking at you Mr Bingo Boffin), you can bob and retrieve a random apple. This can be traded with the nearby Barter Vendor for 1, 2 or 3 Fall Festival Tokens Tokens.

Box of Geodes

Location: Thorin’s Hall Inn

Look for a chest called a Box of Geodes. You can loot this for a random Geode which can be immediately traded with the nearby Barter Vendor. The geode you find will be worth 1, 2 or 3 Fall Festival Tokens Fall Festival Tokens.

Pumpkin Patch Picking

Location: Bree Festival Grounds.

Same principle as the Box of Geodes, but this time you pick from a pumpkin patch and receive barter items to exchange for goodies at the vendor!

The Scroll Chest

Location: Duillond

Near the Trickster is a Scroll Chest which grants a barter item which you can exchange for Fall Festival Tokens Fall Festival Tokens at the vendor right next to it! Again, it’s 1, 2 or 3 Fall Festival Tokens Tokens, depending on the quality of the scroll.

Haunted Burrow Quests at Fall Festival

Gaining Access to the Haunted Burrow

Ayrthir performing the Boo emote available at Fall Festival

If you’re new to the LOTRO Fall Festival then, you can’t open up the quests in the Haunted Burrow straight away.

To do that you need to pick up A Cellar Door AppearsExternal Link (Opens in New Window/Tab) to begin a quest chain. Follow the story and enjoy prodding Lobelia Sackville-Baggins over and over and over, until she finally lets you in!

There are a lot of quests in the Haunted Burrow, but note you can only do one at once. Here are the quests, along with some useful links for you!

Things to be Aware of in the Haunted Burrow

  • Not all doors go anywhere: some put you back in the room you were trying to leave!
  • You can’t often go back through a door you just entered through.
  • There are various traps that you can’t avoid.
  • There is an entire wing of freebies! Head for the Mystery Door for 3 lootable chests. These chests have a 1-hour cooldown before they can be re-looted. Check your buffs.
  • The “Poorly Hidden Chest” – behind a moveable “wall of barrels” in the Basement. It has a 24-hour cooldown (Not aligned with the daily 3am reset).

Map of the Haunted Burrow

I have found a very useful map of the Haunted Burrow for you to learn to navigate your way around! This came from ifynet.comExternal Link (Opens in New Window/Tab). So all credit etc belongs to them. I am simply sharing it. Other maps are available elsewhere on the web, so find one you like!
→ Click/tap the map to fully open it.

Haunted Burrow Deed

You can earn the “Burrower” title by completing all the deeds around the ghouls and ghosts! To clarify, in order to complete A Race Through the Haunted Burrow you have to first pick up A Stroll Through the Haunted Barrow from Poppy Cotton. (Click/tap the image to enlarge it).

The Great Hobbit Rescue

Quest: Find 6 Lost Hobbits

In the Haunted Burrow are six very lost, Very Scared Hobbits! You can see them on the map I linked, but here’s the rooms they are in and what they look like when you find them!

The Main Cellar (3 Hobbits)

Other Rooms (3 Hobbits)

Rattling in the Haunted Burrow

This is one of three quests from Polo Puddifoot. If you speak to this Hobbit at the entrance to the Burrow he recounts having encountered several scary creatures in there! He wants you to confront them all! The first one can be found in the Attic:

Pull the chain and the “scary creature” emerges! Fight the creature and discover it’s just a fancy-dressed Hobbit!

Roaring Maw in the Haunted Burrow

This time Polo thinks he found a really hungry bear in the Cobwebbed Wing. Better lure it out with a jar of honey!

Oh no, we just shot, stabbed, clawed or yelled at a Hobbit again!

Wailing in the Haunted Burrow

Our not-so-brave Polo is convinced he saw “a real ghost” while in the Burrow! This time you need to find the candle in the Creeping Wing to summon the ghost.

Well that’s a third Hobbit who now has a fear of dressing up. Maybe.

Valuables Gone Astray

Welcome to probably the most gross quest of the LOTRO Fall Festival! Holfast Burrows got so terrified that, in his escape from the Haunted Burrow, he lost several of his valuables in there!

You have to search in various….things, for his items. From barrels of “meat”, to gurgling puddles to piles of bones! Thankfully, the items are in the same place each time you run this, so feel free to use the screenshots below instead to minimise the awfulness!

Bonus Fall Festival Tokens

You can pick up at least 3 bonus Fall Festival Tokens tokens if you enter the Mystery Door from the Main Cellar.

The Out-of-Place Lockbox, Strongbox and Chest each contain at least 1 Token, sometimes 2. And there is a chance you’ll get other goodies too:

As I mentioned earlier, these can be looted once per hour if you wish.

A Stroll/Race Through the Haunted Burrow

Poppy Cotton wants to see how quickly you can make it through the Haunted Barrow. To prove you’ve visited the main areas, you have to bring back a trophy! The are trophies are below. You need to complete a Stroll Through… (20 minutes) to unlock a Race Through… (4 Minutes) needed for the deed!

I don’t know if there’s a “perfect” route, but the quickest one I found is: Attic > Cobwebbed Wing > Creeping Wing > Basement.

Remember you have to have turned the quest in before the time runs out, not just make it out the Burrow! Here’s me doing this race to help you (and yes I make a couple of mistakes!).

Cobwebbed Wing Trophy

pointed out you can actually ‘retrieve’ the Cobwebbed Wing Trophy through the wall. Turn floaty names on (Default Key: N) to make it easier. Saves a few seconds and stops you being ambushed (again) by the spider when you come back through the moving wall.

Riddle in a Bottle

If you want a lot of detail about this quest then please use LOTRO-WikiExternal Link (Opens in New Window/Tab). It’s another timed quest, so here is the correct bottle order!

  • Main Basement Riddle: Tree (White Bottle)
  • Cobwebbed Wing Riddle: Bee (Blue Bottle)
  • Creeping Wing: Paper (Orange Bottle)
  • Basement: Blue Bottle

Notes:

  • You have to pass through specific doors between wings. Look for those labeled as requiring Riddle in a Bottle in the hover tooltip. Only the exit to the cellar is the same as the one you took for A Race through the Haunted Burrow.
  • If you pick an incorrect drink you get a speed debuff AND you can be slowed by spiders/ghouls etc. If you pick the correct bottle you get a shield from being hampered by traps in the Burrow!

Inn League/Ale Association

Aside from the initiation quests and the pub-crawls, there are two reputation-granting quests near the Party Tree.

There is one for each faction, so if you are a member of both, you can increase your reputation with them by Reputation 400 per day. This is because each grants Reputation +900 for their faction and Reputation Reduction -500 for the opposing one. Here are the quests:

Inn League Excavation

Requires: Inn League Membership (Not a Member?)

Cora Brownlock (the Hobbit sat at the table outside the Haunted Burrow) is feeling a bit worse for wear. However, she remembers seeing a rare, expensive bottle of wine while she was in the Burrow. She would like more of it, but after *mumbles* of drinks, she’s tired. You need to go fetch it for her – and make sure you drink some on the way!

Find the Wine
Bilbo’s Wine can be found in the attic, on the left as you enter it.

Once you have sampled some, you have to carry it back to Cora.

Leave the Burrow
Leave by the quickest route – it is a timed quest. And you are tipsy. If you drop it, or miss the timer, you’ll have to go fetch (and sample) it again. Maybe you should drop it??

The Wine is auto-delivered, so you won’t lose time trying to click Cora! You may need floaty names to bring up the quest hand-in dialogue though!

Quest Rewards
  • Reputation +900 Inn League Reputation
  • Reputation Reduction -500 Ale Association Reputation
  • Legendary Item XP Legendary Item XP (if applicable)
  • Badges of Taste × 1 Badge of Taste
Not an Inn League Member?

You can do the seven Inn League initiation quests from the Party Tree. See the WikiExternal Link (Opens in New Window/Tab) for more information.

The Ale Association: A Game of Hobbit-Harrying

Requires: Ale Association Membership (Not a Member?)

Hiding behind a barrel near the Haunted Burrow is a Dwarf called Ráthgeir. He wants to use the spooky part of Harvestmath to play scary pranks on Hobbits in the Burrow. Naturally, he’ll send you to do the deed.

Where are the Hobbits?

You’re simply finding those from The Great Hobbit Rescue. So long as you remember their locations, you can complete this quest easily.

Play the Pranks

Near each Hobbit is a usable item with the label Bucket of Tricks. There are a few different “tricks” you play, so do take time to have a chuckle.

Quest Rewards
  • Reputation +900 Ale Association Reputation
  • Reputation Reduction -500 Inn League Reputation
  • Legendary Item XP Legendary Item XP (if applicable)
  • Badges of Dishonour × 1 Badge of Dishonour
Not an Ale Association Member?
See the WikiExternal Link (Opens in New Window/Tab) for the list of initiation quests.

Fall Festival Rewards

Here is a summary of the rewards from the Harvestmath festival. I have also integrated my Fall Festival Cosmetics and mounts system so you can see more information and find specific rewards using my site’s search box.

Past Fall Mounts for Mithril Coins

If you want a mount that’s from a few years ago, then you may only find them available for Mithril Coin Mithril Coins. It depends on which year they were introduced and whether that was before or after LOTRO stopped phasing mounts to Mithril Coin MC.

If you want to see screenshots of them before deciding to buy, then see my Mithril Coins Mounts page, on the Fall Festival tab.

Guises

Guises are temporary appearance changes, making you look like someone else. They have unlimited uses, though, so you only pay once per guise. Also the Guise of Galadriel and the Battle-ready version have different prices.

Why Can’t I Preview Guises at the Fall Festival Vendor?

Because they are not equippable. Instead they are usable items that sit in your inventory (I need to check is Guises have now been moved to Baubles). The downside is, of course, there’s no easy way to get a good preview, except by pictures. Or encountering the NPCs in-game.

Previous Years’ Guises

I haven’t created detailed listings for each of the Harvestmath guises. Instead, I have put the older ones into a grid, so I can show you their appearance and their prices. I’ve put them in Alphabetical order so you can more easily match them to items in-game.

AmarthielMithril Coin×50Tooltip: “You’ve never felt more like yourself!”
Durin VIMithril Coin×50Tooltip: “Don’t delve too deep in search of treats!”
Gandalf the GreyMithril Coin×50Tooltip: “To think some folk thought you would not pass for a Wizard!”
Gandalf the WhiteMithril Coin×75Tooltip: “Although you look the part, you ought to think twice before you try to tame one of the mearas!”
GoldberryMithril Coin×50Tooltip: “Old Man Willow wouldn’t dare bother you now!”
GollumMithril Coin×75Tooltip: “…a precious addition to your collection!”
KarazgarMithril Coin×50Tooltip: “What’s beneath his mask? Why, you, of course!”
MordirithMithril Coin×50Tooltip: “You just keep coming back to this one!”
Sara OakheartMithril Coin×25Tooltip: “Don’t put it on too quickly!”
SarumanMithril Coin×75Tooltip: “Truly, an outfit for any occasion!”
Skorgrim DourhandMithril Coin×25Tooltip: “You wouldn’t be the first to wear such a costume!”
Tom BombadilMithril Coin×125Tooltip: “Never have you felt so compelled to hop along and speak in accentual verse!”
Witch-king of AngmarMithril Coin×100Tooltip: “Be careful not to bump into any daggers of Westernesse!”

What’s in a Basic Costume Grab-bag?

One of five costumes chosen at random when you put the costume on. The five are: Mordor Orc, Nurnhoth Wanderer, Ragged Orc, Silent One, Traveller from Rhûn.

How Do I Get a Basic Costume Grab-bag?

If you had hoped for a guise but didn’t want to pay Mithril Coins, then you can get cheapo options from Mogo Bracegirdle. You can find him just outside the Haunted Burrow.

It costs 1×Fall Festival Tokens (for 3 uses) and they’re not bad considering the price. I would prefer the grab bag to operate like a selection box, even if the price were higher.

What do the Basic Costumes Look Like?

It only took me 13 grab-bags to get all five, so here you go:

Mordor Orc
Nurnhoth Wanderer
Ragged Orc
Silent One
Traveller from Rhûn

Cosmetic Pets

As these are delivered as tomes, you can earn them on one character and mail to another. All pets cost 40 × Fall Festival Tokens

This Year’s Fall Festival Pets

This year we have a Pumpkin Huorn and an Autumn Aurochs pets.

Note: You can purchase the Autumn Aurochs with Fall Festival Tokens Festival Tokens or Mithril Coin Mithril Coins.

Last Year’s Pets

Previous Years’ Pets

You can now find these on my LOTRO Festival Pets Library. Please do check it out!

Festival Dyes

You can obtain the following dyes at the Fall Festival:

  • Ashenslades Green Dye: 10 × Mithril Coin Mithril Coins
  • Imladris Fallen Leaf Dye: 10 × Mithril Coin Mithril Coins
  • Autumn Leaf Dye: 20 × Fall Festival Tokens
  • Twilight Purple Dye: 20 × Fall Festival Tokens

Preview of Dye Colours

Decorations

As I have for other festivals, instead of featuring decorations available during the Harvest Festival here, I will instead refer to you Déco du Milieu‘s excellent archive.

The only note I would give is that some decorations can drop from the chests inside the Haunted Burrow, as well as being available from the Barter Vendor. So maybe leave swapping tokens for decorations until later on in the festival?

Visit Déco du Milieu

TL;DR Come Enjoy the LOTRO Fall Festival 2025! Or Harvestmath if you prefer it!

There is a lot going on at the Fall Festival in The Lord of the Rings Online! You can earn a lot of tokens even without the Bingo Boffin questline and there are many rewards to choose from. So get on down to the Party Tree and enjoy Harvestmath in LOTRO! Or Fallharveenmath.

PS: there is an official guideExternal Link (Opens in New Window/Tab) too.
