Inhabitants of the Vanished Realm Locations
This first part shows the locations in the order you find them in the deed log. However, they do not form a logical path! I’ve suggested an alternative route further down!
1. Stonecrop Encampment
Coordinates: 54.3S, 40.1W
Stonecrop Encampment is the first safe place you reach after passing through Tharbad in Swanfleet. There are a fair few side-quests as well as a Missions Quest-giver. If this is your first run of Before the Shadow, make sure you do all the quests for their stories!

2. Gerwyn’s Convoy
Coordinates: 37.6S, 49.9W
Gerwyn’s Convoy sits on the road from Andrath and a little East from Sarch Vorn. Many of the quests here relate to the strange goings on with the Dead of Dol Ernil and Sarch Vorn. If you’re following the story logically, this is the last place you’ll reach.

3. Sírlond
Coordinates: 45.2S, 39.5W
Sírlond is a safe camp in the eastern portion of Caranost, while the western part is occupied by Orcs. The Epic eventually brings you here, but sometime after your forays beyond Herne. Again, there are side-quests from Elves and Rangers, many involving Caranost itself.

4. Herne
Coordinates: 49.8S, 45.0W
Herne is the main town for all of Cardolan. As such, you can find most of your staple services: vendors, a task board, crafting facilities and access to the Vault-Keeper. The full list of Herne’s serves can be found on the Wiki
Just don’t expect a warm welcome when the Epic brings you here!
5. Scurloc Farm
Coordinates: 43.3S, 33.6W
Scurloc Farm has its own problems, including a family that has fled Hove Farm. However it is great base from which to progress the Slayer of Cardolan and Perils of Cardolan Deeds.

Nagenstones
6. Sarn Ford
Coordinates: 47.8S, 56.2W
Sarn Ford is found at the furthest South-West corner and leads to the The Shire. Make sure you unlock the Stable-Master here as it’s a long ride or walk back if you don’t!
Both side-quests and an important part of the main Before the Shadow story take place at Sarn Ford. I give no spoilers!

Alternative Route
There is not one simple route around Cardolan, mostly due to natural barriers such as hills and rivers. However, there is a smoother way to do it if you’re just trying to clear the Vanished Realm deed quickly.
East to West
Entering through Tharbad from Swanfleet:
From the North-West
Entering from Bree-land through the Vale of Andrath, a possible “loop”
- Gerwyn’s Convoy
- Sírlond (by passing through Caranost)
- Scurloc Farm
- Stonecrop Encampment
- Herne
- Sarn Ford

As I said at the start, this deed is easy to clear. But that only makes it more enjoyable. To be honest, the only way you could make it less enjoyable would be to just find all the locations and ignore the quests and stories!
