Aside from invoking awful jokes about stuff being totes this or totes that, I'd forgotten that the Sea-side Tote was a kind of bag.
It's almost wicker in texture, maybe of grasses or reeds? But the whole tote bag is held together by sturdy leather.
The patterns on the main part of the bag echo those throughout the 2025 rewards; waves, water and swirls that may represent wind. It's actually a rather stylish accessory!
Is the Sea-side Tote a Held Item/Cosmetic Weapon?
Yes...and yes. There's only really a "classification" difference between those two words.
So the tote bag is a held item but can still be used to beat enemies upside the head and grind them into dust. If that's your style.
Can You Dye the Sea-side Tote?
No, and I think that's a shame. Held items, even if they're purely cosmetic, cannot currently be dyed.
I tried dying it in inventory and in the Wardrobe interface, just to check.
I think, if LOTRO allowed a dye on some held item or even cosmetic weapons, it would be amazing. Having that would open up even more personalisation options and making sure people can accessories or - gasp - even colour match their weapons to their armour.
