What I like about the LOTRO Sea-side Bathing Costume is that SSG have introduced swimwear, while still making it plausible in a Middle-earth location. I tried to look at various sites to see what era they may have taken it from and 1910s-1920s-ish is a possible source.
The top has short sleeves but no risqué shoulders, while the shorts go down to the knees. Apparently, around the above time period, so long as your shorts were six inches or less away from you knee, you were fine. Furtherholm just wants its patrons to be happy, I suspect. But all dress modestly here.
Does the Sea-side Bathing Costume Dye?
Yes it does. Very well, in fact. The blue stripes are replaced by your dye of choice. Though please promise me not to dye it black? Or if you do, please affix some Cosmetic Bee Wings!
Just a few links I dug up when trying to figure it out. No affiliation or anything.
