Hat of the Green Dragon Inn Description

I'm not exactly into hats, so I'm not sure which type of hat it is based on. But it appears to be quite smart in some sort of tanned leather.

Out of the left side, a bright yellow and orangy-brown feather stands up, but bends back in the breeze. Then in the rim of the hat are green...things? What do you think they are?

Mouldy Dragon Teeth?
Pickles/Gherkins?

I'm not saying I dislike them, I'm just a little confused. Do let me know your thoughts!
